Projects
The Circuit has a number of projects some of which are funded by the Circuit and other funding bodies, including the Methodist Connexion.
Shieldfield Art Works is an arts organisation, based in Shieldfield, which brings together contemporary art, theology and community activity.
Hand in Hand is a project for people aged 65 and over which meets at Trinity Methodist, Wallsend and at Christchurch, Heaton and was established in January 2000. Through friendship and compassion the project seeks to provide support to elderly people, especially those who are socially isolated or at risk of social isolation, to help prevent feelings of loneliness and isolation.
The Hot Chocolate Project is based in Battle Hill and serves young people aged 7-13.
Men’s Shed was set up in 2021 and meets on Monday nights (7-9pm) and Thursday mornings (10am-12 noon) at Trinity Christian Community Centre (Lartingdon Gardens, South Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE3 1SX).
Despite the name, it is open to women too and a variety of people come along -those interested in woodworking or as a hobby or because they have physical/mental health problems. Attendees build items such as bug hotels, bird tables and bird boxes. Local mental health support workers now join them on Thursday mornings and they are working on a community garden together. There is also a junior woodcrafters club which meets on the first and third Tuesdays in the month (6.30-8pm). Anyone interested in joining should please email mensshed@trinitygosforth.org.uk or call the office at Trinity Church Gosforth on 0191 285 6130.
